The 2016 Household Hazardous Waste Collection was an amazing event. Our community was able to properly dispose of 8,100 pounds of paint, 400 pounds of batteries, 210 pounds of florescent light bulbs, 5,972 pounds of other household hazardous waste, including pesticides, gasoline, aerosols, mercury, and corrosive liquids. The City of Gering Landfill also collected 548.75 gallons of used oil and antifreeze for recycling. Our volunteers from the WNCC Baseball Team, KSGB, and City of Scottsbluff helped make this event run smoothly.
Only a 1/3 of the cost to offer this event, free of charge, to the community was paid for by Nebraska Department of Environmental Quality (NDEQ) grant funds. This event would not have been possible without the generous financial support from the North Platte NRD and the City of Scottsbluff, and the in-kind donations from the City of Gering and Panhandle Coop.
Please consider becoming a member of KSGB. Your membership helps to cover the expenses not paid for by NDEQ grant funds. Without these events our community would not have the opportunity to dispose of unwanted materials safely and correctly.
